Borre style Viking art:
Dating from roughly 850 CE to 950 CE, this style is named after a set of horse-harness mounts robbed from a ship burial in Vestfold, Norway. This style is distinguished primarily by a single gripping beast with a ribbon-like body, or by ribbon shapes/knotwork or ring chains alone. Often a singular beast is intertwined with similarly textured ribbons, taking up all available space, and their heads are depicted from an overhead view.
