Replica pan pipe called a “Jorvik Pipe”, from Coppergate, York based on the nearly 1,000 year old instrument.
Price is for one instrument.
5 holed windpipe.
4.5in Tall 3in wide .75in thick.
To play the pipe you need to blow air into the top end similar to blowing into a soda bottle and making noise. Like any instrument practice makes perfect.
Every hole is a different depth according to the original. Please note these instruments are not tuned to specific notes but rather to emulate the original noise. Also the original had drops of bees wax at the bottom of the holes showing us how they tuned the instrument.
Hours of hand sanding is spent to get the wood to an incredibly smooth exterior and soaked in boiled linseed oil for 24 hours to help protect and provide water resistance as well improved sound.
Every pan pipe is hand made and will be slightly different and will be finished off with a hand made leather cord.
