Pair Of Viking Age Winningas in a blue and Black woven in a beautiful herringbone pattern.
We are proud to present this great addition to the shop, we've searched long and far to find the perfect woven leg wraps.
The woven band gives a more durable legwrap that is also more forgiving when wrapping around you leg as it can handle the size differences with ease and therefor fit snugly and comfortably.
Another great feature of the historical woven bands is that there are no visible machine stitching along the length of the bands.
These pairs consist of two lengths – each measure 3,5 meters // 11.5 feet long and 9 centimeters // 3.5 inches wide to ensure you have enough to keep it securely in-place. No clips or fasteners are needed but you can add some if you'd like. The wraps stay firmly in place, even during vigorous activity. They are shipped with raw edges and we recommend hemming them like you see in the photos.
In The Sagas -
An episode in the sagas suggests that leg wrappings were uncommon enough in Iceland to be worthy of note. Chapter 9 of Gull-Þoris saga describes Grímr, who wore a white cloak, white trousers, and swathing bands, spjarrar, wrapped around his legs. And so, he was called Vafspjarra-Grímr – swathing band Grím.

All of the garb offered here is the result of a Collaboration with Nornewoven, that we have worked toward for years. We've searched long and hard to find beautiful fabric and legwraps that we ended up importing from Sweden. We've tirelessly studied historical finds as well as embroideries, jewelry pieces, stone carvings , sagas and more to ensure we offer garb that is as close to what the people of the viking age wore as we possibly can.
Every aspect of these pieces are a result of deep respect of the old ways, passion for crafting and history and our desire to live lives in balance with all the teachings the norse paganism offer.
Beyond that we wish to share all of knowledge that we gather with others, to strengthen our community, honoring the gods and insuring that these teaching will continue dig their roots deeper into the ground and for the branches to grow and stretch until we are all as solid as the mighty Yggdrasil.
